Feng Shui In a NutshellFeng Shui means "wind water" in English. Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice for over 4,000 years. There are many different definitions and meanings of Feng Shui. There are also many perspectives and different ways to utilize Feng Shui.
Why? Because there are different schools of Feng Shui. From traditional to classical and from intuitive to modern schools of Feng Shui. Some schools date back thousands of years, while others are more recently modified versions. Regardless of the different schools and different practices, they all have the same focal point, energy. And more importantly, it works! |

Feng Shui ConsultationOne size does not fit all.
Just like our fingerprint, every home has it's uniqueness and will need specific Feng Shui consultation. All those Feng Shui advices that can be found online for free are 1.) generic, 2.) water-down, and 3.) from different schools that practice differently. If all those advices are applied into a home, there may not be any result, if you're lucky. Sometimes, results are life-threatening, end of relationships, and bankruptcies. It is best bring in a properly trained Feng Shui consultation. |
How I PracticeThere are many different variations of feng shui out there. Understand your goal before deciding on which feng shui school you would like to get consultation from.
The get to know your Feng Shui consultant and how s/he practice. If you resonate, get a consultation. If you don't, keep looking. But please, do not DYI (do it yourself) Feng Shui. I'd rather have you see another properly trained Feng Shui consultant than doing it yourself because you could do yourself and your family more harm than good. |

Yin YangYin Yang is a symbol, principal, or concept that states that the universe (everything) is complex but complementary, interconnected, and interdependent by light and dark, positive and negative, masculine and feminine, heaven and earth, and so on.
In feng shui, we cannot fix, treat, make right, or eliminate negative energies because we cannot live without one or the other. We can help, assist, shed light, or reduce undesirable feng shui energies, and we can enhance desirable ones. Because of the Yin Yang principal, there will always be positive and negative energies. We want to balance and complement those energies. A good example is to see yin as freezing water while yang as boiling water. With the two interconnecting, we get warm water, a balance of the two. |
Interior Design vs. Feng Shui
Is Feng Shui interior design? It can be. However, I am not an interior design expert. My expertise is classical flying star feng shui. I give you recommendations to use certain elements and colors in each room or area. It is your home and you can decorate however you like as long as it stays within the element and stays within the elemental colors.
The 5 ElementsWu Xing, also known as the 5 Elements, is used in many Chinese metaphysics, such as Chinese medicine, philosophy, astrology, martial arts, and Feng Shui.
It's a concept that describes the interactions and relationships between phenomena. In Feng Shui, it is used to enhance or reduce Feng Shui energies. Like yin yang, these elements are complementary, interconnected, and interdependent. And we strive for harmony between these elements. In my school, we use the actual elements first, then the elemental colors next. |
