10 Feng Shui Tips to Look Out for When House Hunting

7/25/2021

A lot of my friends and family are purchasing homes, and I wanted to create this list to help them and everyone else to find the most auspicious home with these 10 Feng Shui tips.

There are lots more, so be on the look out for more tips.

1. Bright Hall Effect

Picture
Bright Hall Effect means having an open space in front of the front door. By having this an open space in the front allows qi or energy to gather, accumulate, and easily flow into the home.
Picture
Too many plants, trees, and objects directly in front of the door confuses qi and gives qi a more difficult time to enter the home. Just think of water. How can water easily flow into the home when there are obstructive things in front?

2. Good Neighborhood

Avoid being too close to cemeteries, churches, hospitals, cellphone towers, police stations, or any places that are dirty or noisy. At least, these buildings and sites should not be visible from the ground floor when walking around the home.

Because cemeteries, churches, and hospitals are considered yin energies where it slows down energies leaving no or little energies flowing into the home.

While cellphone towers, electric poles, and police and fire stations are considered yang energies where there are too much energies. We want good, steady flow of energies in the neighborhood.

3. Street Flow

In conjunction to good, steady flow of energies in the neighborhood, we want good, steady flow of energies from the street as well. Is the home in a cul-de-sac, T junction, or direct traffic?
Picture
Depending on the location of the home, a home in a cul-de-sac either gets too much or too little energies. While a home at a T junction or direct incoming traffic has too much energies.

Now, T junction or direct incoming traffic doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s all bad either. If the front door has auspicious or really good permanent energies, we want that strong flow of energies to bring in more of the auspiciousness. This leads to my next tip.

4. Auspiciousness of the Front Door

The front door is the mouth of the house. It takes in all energies, favorable and unfavorable. The energies will then get dispersed throughout the house and effects all household members.  And so it is important that the front door is at the most auspicious location so that every time the door opens and shuts, it activates the auspicious permanent energies.
Picture
Unfortunately, a regular person will not be able to determine if the front door has auspicious permanent energy and will have to seek a properly-trained flying star Feng Shui consultant.

5. Bright Hall Effect Behind the Front Door

After qi enters the home, it needs space to flow and meander to the rest of the home. It is important to note what is behind the front door.

If a staircase is directly behind the front door, qi rushes up or down depending on the direction of the staircases, leaving no energies on the main floor. This causes an imbalance of the home.

Same goes if the back door directly across the front door because qi goes in and right back out.

And if a bathroom or bedroom door is in direct of the front door, qi rushes into those rooms instead of the rest of the home.

6. No Stove View from the Front Door

Many feng shui experts give varies reasons why. Some claim that occupants of the house will have money problems or trouble saving money. Others claim that positive qi entering the home will get destroy by the fire of the stove. And some claim that the stove represents the occupant’s health and wealth. And if the stove is within sight of the front door, the occupants are exposing their health and wealth.

7. No Kitchen nor Bathroom in the Center

The center of a home acts like the human heart. It should be an open area full of joy, light, and beauty.

Kitchens, specifically stoves, are fire elements. And too much fire in the center of the home causes too much heat, passion, and anger from the center out.

As for bathrooms, bathrooms are considered dirty. It’s a place where we relieve negative energies. So having bathrooms in the center of home, especially if it’s the only bathroom, causes negative energetic loads in the heart of the home. Also some feng shui experts say that having bathrooms in the center drain the heart of the home’s energies.

8. Stove and Sink Placement

The stove and sink should not sit next to each other nor faces each other. These positions cause conflicting energies between the two elements of fire and water.
Picture
Wu Xing or The Five Element is one of the main principles of Feng Shui. Here, water destroys fire. And in feng shui, we strive for balance, not destructive.

9. Ceiling Beams

Ceiling beams are considered poison arrows. When qi rises up, these beams forces qi straight down putting too much pressure to whoever or whatever sits below these beams.

If you already have existing beams in your current home, at least make sure that your beds and stove are not directly under these beams.

10. Trust Your Instincts

When you feel eerie, get goosebumps, feel headaches, or feel sick when touring a home, trust that instinct and walk out. Because everything has energies. Everything vibrates energies, including homes.

Some people have better receivers than others. This is why sometimes you’ll see a group family touring a home at once. Of course, there may be other reasons for that eerie feeling. So it is best to consult with a properly-trained flying star Feng Shui consultant before signing that document.

Bonus Tip: House Size

This tip has a more spiritual meaning than Feng Shui. Pick a home big enough for all household members to fill in.

For example. If you are a bachelor or bachelorette, pick a home that is big enough just for you. Basically, you want to get a 1,000 square feet home or less. If it’s just you and your spouse, you may want to get a 1,200 square feet home.

The reason behind this is that we need human bodies to fill in the space. And if a human body doesn’t fill in the space, other spiritual beings may think it’s abandoned and may fill in the space for you. Like I said, let me know your thoughts on this.

Special Note

There is no such thing as a perfect Feng Shui home because Feng Shui energy changes all the time--life changes, circumstance chances, and our needs changes. Even if it’s a custom-built home, there will be some kind of trade off.  But just know that most of the time, undesirable Feng Shui can be remedy. And most of the time, there are ways to work around bad Feng Shui. So watch out for my upcoming blogs on how to remedy some of these bad Feng Shui.

Until next time. I wish you yin yang and prosperity.
